Teacher Survey

Because field trips will not be possible this coming year, we are hoping that we can bring some of the amazing learning and experimental opportunities we usually offer at YouthLink to your grade 6 classrooms. We are currently in the process of designing an online learning module on Evidence and Investigation. We’d love to hear from you so that we can meet your needs and the needs of your students!

Thank you for your input!

Can your students work in groups under your school's COVID guidelines?

At YouthLink, our regular forensics field trip involves solving a crime. Many of you may remember the “Car Fire Crime.” If we were to offer online materials for you to use that involved solving a crime, would you…

In addition to online resources that you can download at your convenience, we are giving some consideration to an online field trip in which your and your class interact with us live at the Centre.(e.g. through Zoom or other) How much time would you like to spend on a “virtual field trip” with YouthLink?

When do you think that you will be teaching your class Evidence and Investigation?

Over how many weeks do you expect to spend teaching Evidence and Investigation?

We are trying to understand how comprehensive to make our online materials and how long our teachers would spend with their classes on them. If our lesson plans for Evidence and Investigation were divided into 8 different components (one for each of fingerprinting, foot print analysis, observation skills etc.), how much time would you anticipate that you would spend on each on average?

If it is allowed under your school’s COVID rules, would you book an option where a YL Educator comes to your class to deliver our regular forensics program?

If you answered "yes" to the above question, how long would you prefer this in-class field trip to be?

At YouthLink, we typically spend a half day with your students on Evidence and Investigation and a half day on crime prevention. If we made the crime prevention topics available online, how likely are you to download and use them with your class?

How much do you agree with this statement: “With respect to the above crime prevention topics, I would not cover these topics myself but I would be interested in booking a YL educator to come to my class to discuss them” (if permitted under Covid rules)

Would you be interested in booking a "live" virtual presentation with a YouthLink Educator on any of our Safe for Life topics (drugs, gangs, online safety, healthy relationships)? This would be via Zoom or other. Your class would have the opportunity to virtually walk through our exhibits, do activities and ask questions.

How likely would you be to pay for any of the following?
Very likely Somewhat likely Not very likely
Online Evidence and Investigation package that covers the curriculum
“In-class” Presenter (comes to your class to deliver the forensics program)
Online Crime Prevention Package - covering drugs, gangs, online safety, healthy relationships
Rental of a Forensics Field Kit (hands on activities, fingerprinting cards, laminated cards, crime scene tape tec.)

If you are willing to attend a focus group (virtual or in person) to share your thoughts on how best to deliver online learning to you this fall, please share your email address.

Would you be interested in attending a PD session that goes over how to best utilize our online forensics unit?

Do you think that schools will be able to offer field trips during the 2020-2021 school year?

Under what circumstances do you think that schools might be able to offer field trips?

If you have any advice or guidance to give us to help us in developing an online Evidence and Investigation module for you, please share your thoughts!
